Complexity Classification of Two-Qubit Commuting Hamiltonians
We classify two-qubit commuting Hamiltonians in terms of their computational complexity. Suppose one has a two-qubit commuting Hamiltonian H which one can apply to any pair of qubits, starting in a computational basis state. We prove a dichotomy theorem: either this model is efficiently classically simulable or it allows one to sample from probability distributions which cannot be sampled from ...
متن کاملConvexity and Commuting Hamiltonians
The converse was proved by A. Horn [5], so that all points in this convex hull occur as diagonals of some matrix A with the given eigenvalues. Kostant [7] generalized these results to any compact Lie group G in the following manner. We consider the adjoint action of G on its Lie algebra L(G). If T is a maximal torus of G and W its Weyl group, then it is well known that W-orbits in L(T) correspo...
متن کاملTopological color codes and two-body quantum lattice Hamiltonians
Topological color codes are among the stabilizer codes with remarkable properties from the quantum information perspective. In this paper, we construct a lattice, the so-called ruby lattice, with coordination number 4 governed by a two-body Hamiltonian. In a particular regime of coupling constants, in a strong coupling limit, degenerate perturbation theory implies that the low-energy spectrum o...
متن کاملEckart frame Hamiltonians in the three-body problem
A. V. Meremianin∗ Department of General Physics, Voronezh State University, 394006, Voronezh, Russia (ΩDated: February 22, 2013) Abstract The Eckart frame is used to separate out the collective rotations in the quantum three-body problem. Explicit expressions for the corresponding rotational and vibro-rotational (i.e. Coriolis) Hamiltonians are derived. Special attention is paid to the situatio...
متن کاملMapping local Hamiltonians of fermions to local Hamiltonians of spins
We show how to map local fermionic problems onto local spin problems on a lattice in any dimension. The main idea is to introduce auxiliary degrees of freedom, represented by Majorana fermions, which allow us to extend the Jordan–Wigner transformation to dimensions higher than one. We also discuss the implications of our results in the numerical investigation of fermionic systems.
